This is a pro bono marketing plan made for Champions Health and Fitness in Greenville, North Carolina by a team of first-year MBA candidates from East Carolina University’s Department for Marketing and Supply Chain Management.
Authors: Alesha, Alex, Lanie, Danielle (me), Adam, Naadiya, & Amanda

We used the Four P’s (product, price, place, and promotion) to construct a marketing mix and the D.E.C.I.D.E. model for decision analysis. These frameworks act as scaffolding for the subsequent marketing plan.
Keep in mind, this is an example of my work as a first-year MBA student collaborating in a small group under strict deadlines. Given more time, I would have synthesized this project much further.
Additionally, my team and I were inexperienced with this type of project. Many aspects of the marketing plan were executed manually, a first for many of us—including me, a solo, digital marketer who typically relies on technology for automating repetitive tasks. It’s kind of like taking a crash-course in long division after a lifetime of using calculators.
This experience made me realize the potential drawbacks of over-reliance on digital tools if not managed properly, but it also helped me to greatly appreciate the information systems at my disposal.
Reflecting on this project years later italicizes my significant personal growth. Back then, I believed I was an expert, but truthfully, I was just starting out. Experience is crucial, but without proper education, progress will be slow. I am immensely grateful for my steady improvement and career success.
This journey may not always look perfect from the outside-looking-in, but pain just sweetens the victory. Therefore, I am thrilled to share my personal growth journey with you. Thanks for reading!
